"...since being torn screaming prematurely from his mothers womb tom woodman has always been involved in music. whether he was bashing the hell out of his bass all through the '90's touring up and down the country and as far as japan with the original line up of british hardcore band lockdown, which went on to be the lockdown project (tom left the band before their first record on a major label was recorded due to artistic differences" i'm still good friends with all those guy's. i just found the sudden leap to spanish guitar and popish choruses too sudden. i like it it's a good sound. but i just thought it wasn't what we'd been doing up to that point. yeah, i've got to admit it was hard, you know, watching them go on and tour stadium's in europe. did i feel left behind? yeah, but they had to do what they had to do you know, i don't blame them...their my friends you know.") he also spent a lot of time backing up local folksy rock band "tipsy tunes" on percussion.." i used to love that. we had some great parties. jo our vocalist passed away earlier this year. which was very sad. she was a very talented singer and a good friend also.." so tom seems to of had his run in's & time's being put through the mill then. maybe that explains the passion that alway's seemed to be on the forefront...(you may recognise tom from acting in the movie "the big finish..." i'm not sure of that film..." he says " it was rushed in the filming and editing. everything was done in one take hits. i don't think we were reading from the same hymn sheet as the directors. i never felt supported by them.i was young. i was out of my depth.i was still swimming...it was an exploitation movie you know...?" having alway's played guitar & sung it was no surprise (at least to those close to him) that he would eventually take the solo angle... playing all of the instrument's on these self penned compositions tom has shown us versatility not only as a musician but also as a eccentric virtuoso in genre, style & originality. the passion & talent shine through despite some interesting (?) production ("most of that stuff was recorded on either old tape machine's or four tracks in little b&b's & digs while touring with theatre companies" (tom also toured with the birmingham stage company for four years) he say's " i was learning as i went along. it was mostly just jotting idea's down, very quickly,some times improvised, i never thought they'd be heard. but i felt they had an honesty to them so i put them out there anyway...." knowing this sometimes adds to the atmosphere of the songs and you can't help but be drawn in to this interesting surprisingly modest character. "it's not all autobiographical. sometimes when i say "I" or "me" in a song it's about somebody i've observed...i just try to put myself in they're shoes...but there are song's that's just me pouring my heart out..." i for one look forward to hearing more. i strongly recommend putting him on your i-pod & letting him take you on a journey...."
